- "What is that haze" you ask??? In recent years, all bars, clubs, and restaurants have been caught under a law passed by the German government that calls for all such public establishments to be smoke free. They did, however, leave a loop hole in the legislation for establishments to require patrons to purchase a membership. This "membership clause," we'll call it, makes these public establishments now "private establishments" and not subject to the ban on smoking in public establishments.
SO, this "haze" is cigarette smoke billowing from patrons who've chosen the privatized establishments march against the "anti-pro-choice" legislation over those establishments who are too timid to ask smokers to take the cancer sticks outside for the sake of their other non-smoking customers.
